Key issues and topics related to Covid-19 to ensure that people have a baseline of understanding about the disease:
1. Stigmas
- Need to ❤️ and take care of each other
- Need to fight stigma and help, not hurt, others by providing social support.
- Counter stigma by learning and sharing facts.
- Very important to communicate that viruses do not target specific racial or ethnic groups.
2. Transmission
- through eye, nose, and mouth, via droplets produced on coughing or sneezing.
- close contact with infected person.
- contact with contaminated surfaces, objects, or items of personal use. (varying information here, but some studies suggest the virus may live on surfaces up to 9 days: https://www.journalofhospitalinfection.com/article/S0195-6701(20)30046-3/fulltext)
- Even if someone doesn't have symptoms, they may still transmit the disease

3. Symptoms
- Coronavirus causes symptoms like fever, cough, shortness of breath.
- Symptoms can be almost similar to common cold or flu and may appear 2-14 days of exposure.
- Severity of illness can vary in different people from mild to severe symptoms (older people, or people with health problems like diabetes, heart disease and respiratory problems are more than twice as likely to need medical attention).
- If you have a fever, cold, or sore throat, don’t panic.

4. What to do if you think you are sick?
- Don't panic
- Self-isolate / avoid risk of potentially contaminating others
- Stay warm and get plenty of rest!
- Maintain healthy diet, and particularly ensuring hydration by drinking lots of water!
- steam inhalation 2-3 times per day may help with breathing
- Some evidence that fresh air and sun can be helpful while recovering - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4504358/
- Incorporate the "10 things" from CDC https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/downloads/10Things.pdf
